HMS Astute (S119) entered the Gare Loch on her way to her home base, Faslane, at approx. 11am on the 20th November 2009.
She is the lead ship in her class of the most powerful nuclear-powered attack submarines ever built for the Royal Navy.
Astute left Barrow in-Furnace where she was built by BAE systems on the 15th November 2009 to brgin the first stage of her sea trials.
Astute is scheduled to commence service with the Royal Navy at the end of 2010.
